@gothjod: You are totally right of course about the background. The flower in focus is sort of blending together with the background, which probably is not really good for this type of macro shot...
@dakoo: Phew... you almost spooked me when you mentioned the camera model. Hehe, I was almost sure this pic had its EXIF meta data removed, which apparently wasn't the case... Thanks anyways
And, of course, I know what you mean. But I always prefer to get to know the equipment before I start to experiment. Since this is my first dSLR (well, actually, up till now I have been using an IXUS V2
